Edward Riley Langworthy
Edward Langworthy moved to Salford from London in 1840. He had experience in business and was involved in setting up Salford Museum and Library along with his friend Joseph Brotherton. Langworthy made large financial contributions to the museum along with artefacts. On his death in 1874 he left a further £10,000 for the upkeep of both the museum and library.
Throughout his life Langworthy had a number of jobs including 5th Mayor of Salford, liberal politician, and a company representative in South America.
