Ben H. Mullen and Posters

Ben H. Mullen took the position of curator and chief librarian in 1892. He had previously worked at the Museum of Science and Industry in Dublin for many years. Copies of his posters are currently displayed in the Local History Library. There are a range of posters on a number of themes including: rewards for information concerning the damage of library property, advertising different types of books, and rules and regulations.

Mullen was curator for 33 years until his death in October 1925. The museum then split the role of curator into two jobs: curator and chief librarian. Mullen was succeeded in 1926 by H.J.M. Maltby, curator, and Mr Alfred Hobson, chief librarian.
